About Kendra

Kendra Checketts is a professional singer, songwriter, and vocal coach with over eight years of experience developing singers into confident, performance-ready artists.

She first gained national recognition as a Top 14 finalist on The Voice (Season 16) and later appeared on American Idol (Season 20), performing for millions and gaining firsthand experience in high-pressure, high-level performance environments. These opportunities helped shape her understanding of what it truly takes to deliver vocally and emotionally when it matters most.

Beyond television, Kendra has built a career as a recording artist and songwriter, with her original music accumulating millions of streams. Her work has been featured across major television networks and streaming platforms through sync placements in shows such as Law & Order, Station 19, Love Island, Teen Mom, and more. This experience gives her a unique perspective not only as a performer, but as a working artist actively navigating the industry.

As a live performer, Kendra has taken the stage in front of audiences of up to 60,000 people, including stadium performances at Petco Park, Snapdragon Stadium, and other major venues. Performing at that scale has shaped her approach to stage presence, consistency, and vocal control — all of which directly inform how she trains her students.

Alongside her own career, Kendra has worked with a wide range of singers, from beginners to advanced performers, helping them prepare for auditions, live performances, and professional opportunities. She has coached singers preparing for shows like The Voice and American Idol, and her students have gone on to book roles in major TV and film productions, tour with established artists, perform in large-scale venues, and consistently land lead roles in school and local productions.

Kendra’s coaching style is rooted in real-world application. Rather than focusing only on isolated exercises, she emphasizes building a voice that is strong, reliable, and expressive in actual performance settings. Her sessions combine technique with stylization, dynamics, and storytelling — helping singers not only improve their voice, but learn how to use it with intention and confidence.

She is especially known for her ability to quickly identify what a singer needs and guide them toward a sound and style that feels authentic. Whether working across genres, refining performance details, or preparing for high-stakes opportunities, her focus is always on helping each student develop control, confidence, and a clear artistic identity.

At the core of her work is a simple goal: to help singers feel fully confident in their voice — not just in a lesson, but on stage, in auditions, and in their own music.
